X-Wing Build Journal No. 16: Issues 53-56
What’s Inside
The wing gets extended, and work begins on the thruster engine. I also get a mystery box in the mail!
X-Wing Bookends
I received a surprise box in the mail the other day. Inside were the long-awaited X-Wing bookends! Sadly, they do not look anything like the image that was displayed on the ModelSpace website.
The bookends are solid blocks of glass, measuring 3″ cubed. The X-Wings are clear stickers applied to 2 sides of each cube. The ModelSpace website made it look like there were fully 3-dimensional X-Wings suspended inside a block of acrylic. Still, they are pretty hefty, and they function better as paper weights rather than book ends.
The Wing
Work continues on the wing, beginning with some greeblies that go onto the front edge.
After the greeblies, the wing is extended, and a metal support bracket is installed.
Thruster Engine
Moving onto the thruster engine, I work on the interior as well as add a bunch of greeblies on the outside of the casing.
Well, that was a pretty short Build Journal. Thankfully, I’m one more step to finishing the wings for good.
