Special Thanks

For many years, I’ve had a special thanks logo on the site. When I began my contract with Disney, I had to remove third-party advertising. When the contract ended, the logo came back. I’m speaking, of course, of the Disneyana.com logo. It used to sit at the foot of the website, but has found a new home in the sidebar (scroll down a little). I’ve probably mentioned Disneyana.com very briefly a couple of times in the past, but I thought I’d mention it again.

I started out helping to design splash pages and CS-Cart templates with a Disney style, which I still do. We’ve completed two themed designs for Spring and Winter: Adventureland and the Matterhorn, respectively. Two more for Summer and Fall (Frontierland and New Orleans Square, respectively), are in development. To make them extra special, they all have a Shag-like design, which is really fun to work with. Images of these designs can be seen in my Graphic Web Design Gallery.

This site owes a lot to the owner of that website. It was on his server that I first had free reign. There was unlimited disk space. There was unlimited bandwidth. It was a wide-open field of freedom to take the Disney Experience to new places and to try new things. Bold, daring things.

Yes, I did eventually leave his server. The site was growing fast, sucking up more and more bandwidth and disk space (it’s never truly unlimited, ya know). I also wanted to take more responsibility of the technical server/hosting things that were not 100% under my control. I wanted this site to truly be mine. And, so it is.

The site’s come a long way from icons, cursors, and wallpapers. It became popular for its paper models. At the time, Disney paper models were scarce to say the least. Now, there are other papercraft artists like Ray Keim (of Haunted Dimensions fame) and Becky (of Fan Board fame). And, we see an ever-changing gallery of work from other artists on the Fan Board.

So, the logo will remain, and we should all give thanks to the person who played a big role in the Disney Experience’s development.
