Gift Submissions
I’ve been receiving some pretty imaginative gift submissions. I’m enjoying both reading them and pondering over their creation. I only have a month before the next one is released, so I’d better get cracking.
Surprisingly, about one third of the submissions are paper model requests. A few ideas are tantalizing, but recent changes in the Walt Disney Internet Group threaten to delay the release of any newly-created models. Last year, the Walt Disney Internet Group merged with Disney Interactive Studios to become one big company, the Disney Interactive Media Group. During this change, some folks retired, and others were shuffled around. With the help of one of my former contacts there, I was finally able to get things straightened out. Unfortunately, the new guy that approves the models (and all papercraft) is now forwarding them to the folks at Disney Legal for approval. I have yet to hear of anything about my latest submission, and I have a feeling that approvals will now be lengthier than normal, which used to be only a few days. We’ll see how the new system works; sometimes they just need to be poked with a stick (they’re very busy, as you can imagine).
