Deck the Halls with Gingerbread Cookie Ornaments
These “gingerbread” ornaments are not edible; DO NOT EAT!
‘Tis the season to be merry! Decorate your home or tree with 8 gingerbread cookie ornaments featuring Mickey and friends (we couldn’t resist throwing in a Tinker Bell, too). We’ve been working likes Santa’s elves on Christmas Eve to get these crafts out to you all so that you can make & enjoy them in time for the holidays.
We’ve modified a salt dough recipe to make these fake cookies look like real gingerbread by using ground cinnamon. Leave the cinnamon out, and you’ll get ornaments that look more like sugar cookies. Why not make a batch of both!?
The “icing” is done with dimensional fabric paint (red, green, white, and brown). We had to darken the brown paint with some black paint to make it stand out against the cookie ornament. And, if you don’t want to disturb the “icing” with a hole poking through the cookie ornament, you can use eye pins (or make your own) like we did on ours.
